ORIGINAL ARABIC SOURCE TEXT
17 - علي بن إبراهيم، عن أبيه، عن صفوان بن يحيى، عن إسحاق بن عمار قال: قال أبو عبد الله (عليه السلام): ما نعلم شيئا يزيد في العمر إلا صلة الرحم، حتى أن الرجل يكون أجله ثلاث سنين فيكون وصولا للرحم فيزيد الله في عمره ثلاثين سنة فيجعلها ثلاثا وثلاثين سنة، ويكون أجله ثلاثا وثلاثين سنة، فيكون قاطعا للرحم فينقصه الله ثلاثين سنة ويجعل أجله إلى ثلاث سنين.
الحسين بن محمد، عن معلى بن محمد، عن الحسن بن علي الوشاء، عن أبي الحسن الرضا (عليه السلام)، مثله.

ENGLISH TRANSLATION
17. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from Safwan ibn Yahya from Ishaq ibn ‘Ammar who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah عليه السلام has said, ‘We do not know of anything that may increase one’s lifespan like maintaining good relations with relatives does. It is so much so that a man’s life span may have only three years been left, but he maintains good relations with relatives, Allah will increase his lifespan to thirty years. The total will be thirty-three years, thus the appointed time for his death will be after thirty-three years. So, then if he severs family ties, so Allah reduces his lifespan by thirty years and sets his term to three years." Al-Husayn ibn Muhammad has narrated from Mu’alla ibn Muhammad from al- Hassan ibn Ali al-Washsha’ from Abu al-Hassan al-Rida عليه السلام a similar Hadith.
